Get sewing quickly with this simple and timeless jacket PDF pattern with a modern twist. It features patched on pockets and side ties for shape, a straight neckband on fold and sleeves that are sewed flat onto the body - so you don’t have to worry about setting in sleeves if that’s not your strong suit.

The pattern includes two styles, the jacket (View A) and a shirt version (View B) which has elasticated cuffs and a tie belt, is a little shorter and only features the chest pocket. When the pattern is cut out and ready to sew, you can make the jacket in a day.

The skill level for this pattern is labelled as "Confident Beginner": you will need to have some experience with using a sewing machine. Making up a straightforward garment like the Viva Tie Jacket is a great opportunity to practice double folded hems and collar corners. Because you can choose to finish it to a basic, casual standard or use more advanced techniques, all depending on your confidence at the machine, even advanced sewists will enjoy this pattern.

The Viva Tie Jacket has been designed for medium to heavy weight fabrics like different cottons, linen, medium wools or denim for example. The shirt can be made in lighter materials like viscose blends or cotton gauze. You can also try to make the jacket in a knit fabric or ponte jersey, just make sure to use a ballpoint needle for this. You can use your regular sewing machine or a regular machine plus an overlocker/serger.

This pattern includes the following sizes UK 8–28 / EUR 36–56 / US 4–24. Please choose your pattern size based on your measurements rather than going for your normal store bought size.
